Giving Time - Teaching Skills for Life
Schedules
The best advice I can give to parents of multiples is that it is okay to get off schedule from time to time.
From the minute you find out you are going to have twins, triplets or more you are told it is imperative that you stay on schedule, that your children always nap at the same time every day. That they eat at the same time everyday.
While this is great advice it is also important to know that sometimes it is fine, if not recommended that you skip the schedule.
You do not take a nap that day or you eat an hour later.
Your children, especially when they get older will love that you skipped the nap that day and did something special. However keep in mind that it is important that you get back on schedule sooner than later.
So while getting off schedules for holidays, birthday parties or special events it is also important that you get back on schedule the next day or so. Keep in mind that the longer you stay off schedule the harder it is to get back on schedule. So every now and then it is okay to stray from your schedule and do something out of the ordinary.

Twins Driving
by Faith
(Stanaford,WV)
I have 16 year old twin boys. And with that age comes time for learning to drive. They drive good , however its a big issue when it comes time for them to take turns. Not only is it nerve wrecking driving with as teenager, but then trying to settle a disbute as to who gets to drive is mind blowing. I have done the "neither one will drive, I'll drive myself" thing. They know they have to take turns, but as teenagers they act like they shouldnt have to. Then I end up with arguing between the twins. I have even thought about taking their learners from them. My theory is ,"learn to take turns ,or dont drive at all". This just doesnt seem to work.
Does anyone have any tips or advice on what I can try? I dont want to go bald pulling my hair out.

Toy Room Orginazation
by meandmy3

If your toy room is anything like ours used to be you are more than likely just going to look in, shut the door and walk away. That is a thing of the past in our house. I got organized. As a mom of 4.5 year old triplets, 2 boys and a girl I have everything form dolls to trucks and was always stepping on something. I knew I needed to do something to get them more organized and something that would make cleaning up easy for the kids.
I first went shopping, I am a big fan of Target so off I went. I found these great cubed book shelves that are perfect for toy rooms, in fact I would not be surprised if they were not made for that exact purpose. I got the fabric inserts for several of the cubes and labeled them with pictures of what went in them. My children now do not have to pull every thing out to find what they need, and they can put toys back where they go.
In addition I have an art closet. All of my art supplies, scissors, glue etc are organized in plastic bins in the closet. Larger toys are in two different larger toy boxes, in which I labeled as well with pictures of what goes in there. Granted I still step on toys from time to time but it is not as bad as it once was.
